UNFORGETTABLE LOCATIONS: Singapore

One of our more exotic travels was to the Southeast Asian city of Singapore. The city has a unique cultural mix with four official languages: Chinese, Malay, English and Tamil.

The City’s name Singapore, derives from the Sanskrit word for “Lion city”. You can spot the loin dotted throughout the city, no where is this more evident than the Merlion park with the mascot mythical creature of a lion’s head and a fish’s body. Singapore offers so much to explore and see, here are some of our favorite ways to see the city…

Eat + Drink

The only way to experience the best food Singapore has to offer is to tray out as many Hawker stalls as you can fit into your journey time. Not surprisingly some of these Hawkers are Michelin star rated. There are so many various foods and drinks on offer at great prices that you would want to try it all.

Although the price tag is steep, having a cocktail at the top of the Marina Bay Sands hotel at night is a fantastic experience and a great way to see the city.

Stay

If you want to stay in luxury, we recommend the classic Raffles hotel which has been newly renovated with refined elegance.

Do

Plan a trip to the Gardens by the bay and the botanical gardens as they are a wonder and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The city is compact and diverse, a good day of walking (if you can stand the humidity and heat) and you will be able to see a variety of impressive Architectural and culture.

Another must is to make a stop into a supermarket to explore the unique local produce.
